Aspirations and Future Goals

For my studies at Coventry University I hope to achieve a 2.1 grading for my degree. I understand however it is always sensible to aim high so I have a 1st grading in mind.

I hope to achieve a strong graded degree qualification by the end of my course. I also hope to have developed academically to allow me to further progress my studies should I wish to do so in the future. I would like, during my course, to develop as a person not just academically. I hope to become more outgoing and to develop my people skills further so that my public relations will be of a higher standard.

Whilst at University I will also take advantage of the societies and sports that occur to further improve my physical fitness. I would very much like to be accepted onto the ice hockey team as this is something I played as a child and enjoy very much.

My main career goal in life is to become an airline pilot. In June 2008 I travelled to Jerez in southern Spain and was accepted into the prestigious pilot school Flight Training Europe. Unfortunately due to the high course fees I was unable to attend. Despite this, becoming a pilot remains my ultimate goal in life. This I would describe as my ultimate career goal; however I know that I must have a number of professions before I can achieve this final goal of becoming a pilot.

My academic aim is really quite simple as is to do well. I understand to achieve this I must ensure that I submit work to the best of my ability and attend all lectures so that I can development my educational knowledge.

Upon graduating I want to secure a good job in the computer games programming sector. I would very much like to work for Bungie, creators of my favourite computer game Halo. Although this may not be the best way to choose an employer, I will have to consider my employment based on job quality not just which company I like best.

To secure these goals I am going to need a number of skills and attributes. Working by myself is a skill that I have not used academically in a long time due to the gap in my education between school and university. It is vital that I re-train myself so that I can complete work when it is set and not allow things to ‘get on top’ of me.

I think that I will have to mainly develop myself academically to be successful at university. I feel that due to my age and previous life experience I have developed as a person. Saying this there are always many skills that others can teach you. So to do well, I also think that I have to take every day with an open mind, ready to learn new things.

To secure my ultimate goal of becoming an airline pilot I need to secure 115,000 euros. I have already secured my place at the school which remains there until I am ready to attend. To do this I must first achieve a high quality grade at university so that I can secure a good post graduate job. Doing this will allow me to save the required amount of money and attend the flight school. From here my career goal would be to achieve the rank of captain flying for British Airways.
